When I first saw this story, I thought Citizen, the same company that made my watch, had made a special edition iPhone which didn’t make much sense. There is a reason why that didn’t make much sense, its because they didn’t make it, Citizen: Citizen made it, which is a whole other company entirely.
I took a look at the Citizen: Citizen website and saw some of the stuff they were selling, lets suffice it to say that the store isn’t for the middle or lower classes, but they do have some pretty cool looking products, and they are very edgy with some of their products. Now that things were starting to make more sense, they show a $2000 price tag to purchase one of the all black ccPhones.
Other than an all black iPhone, it appears the dock has also been blacked out, and they have added some artwork for the screen, a ton of information, some videos, some music, and Citizen: Citizen’s very own address book in v-cards, that last one will be updated a couple times a year too. No service is included, so you’ll have to get it activated by one of the Apple approved service providers. They are just 8GB iPhones, and are on pre-order now from their site for $2k each, they are set to ship on the 15th.

Google Docs Blog had announced couple of weeks back about Google Docs for mobile phones especially the iPhone, it means that you will now be able to view your docs, spreadsheets and presentations that are optimized for the iPhone.
However, the current optimized iPhone edition is only available in read-only, allowing you to view your documents, but not to edit them.
You can access the docs using the regular link; but you will soon notice that it is rather difficult to use as the UI is cramped up and this is even before the keyboard is activated.
To check out the read-only version of Google docs, point your iPhone’s Safari browser to http://docs.google.com/m.
If you are not happy with the option of only being able to view Microsoft Word documents with your iPhone and would like to edit them as well then you can check out Glide Write 2.0 iPhone version which brings powerful mobile document creation and collaboration features to your iPhone which I had reviewed in September.
These are still early days and I am sure we will soon we able to edit Google Docs from the iPhone. Google seems to be making all the right moves with regards to apps for the iPhone as I think they realize the potential of the jesus phone. They have now launched a slew of products optimized for the iPhone starting with the killer iPhone Apps like Google Maps, YouTube and others like Google Calendar, Gmail and now Google Docs.
Will Google be to iPhone/mobile phones, what Microsoft has been to PCs

T-Mobile Germany has announced their “iPhone Complete” rate plans for the iPhone this November, starting at €49 per month. Plans include unlimited data, Visual Voicemail access, and access to T-Mobile’s 8,000+ hotspots in Germany. Individual plans differ based on voice minutes and SMS text messages available per month.
“This means that users can enjoy the fantastic experience of the mobile Internet on the iPhone with no worries,” said Philipp Humm, managing director, T-Mobile Germany. The incredible combination of T-Mobile’s powerful EDGE network combined with the country’s largest offering of Wi-Fi HotSpots and the exclusive ‘iPhone Complete’ rate plans give T-Mobile customers everything they need to experience the iPhone to the fullest. The transparently structured Complete rates thus confirm our brand motto ‘simply closer.’”
By the end of 2007, T-Mobile will be the only network operator in Germany to offer EDGE throughout almost its entire GSM network
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with T-Mobile and can’t wait to start selling the iPhone in Germany in just a few short weeks,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Starting at just €49 per month, we think these three rate plans give customers the flexibility to experience all of iPhone’s revolutionary features at affordable and competitive prices.”
The iPhone is scheduled to go on sale in Germany November 9th and will be available for €399 including V.A.T.

You’ve run the TIFF exploit jailbreak and your iPhone or iPod touch now has Installer.app on your main page. So now what? Here are some tips and ideas for you.
Add Community Sources. Most third party applications are found under Community Sources in Installer.app. Until you add this feature, you won’t see most of the dozens and dozens of available applications from repositories like SMXY and Conceited Software.
Try out some great apps. My personal favorites include my own Voice Notes recorder (for iPhone only), Apollo IM instant messaging client, and Mobile Colloquy for irc. There are productivity apps, games, and utilities, all available for your mobile device.
Add direct file access. Install the BSD subsystem and (in Community Sources) Open SSH (both from NerveGas). Once you’ve installed ssh, you can use any sftp client to transfer files onto and off of your unit. On the Mac, you can also install MacFuse and sshfs to gain Finder access to your units. Remember that the new iPhone and iPod touch 1.1.1 password is “alpine”, not “dottie”. Many GUI sftp clients may not see the entire directory tree. In this case, you may want to enable afc2.
Know when things go wrong. The latest Installer.app has been hammered by new users. If you get a “package” error when trying to install, just do a re-install. You may need to uninstall first, depending on the progress when things failed. If you touch an app icon and it launches, pauses and quits, make sure you’ve installed the BSD subsystem. Failing to install BSD is the number one reason most app launches fail.
Know about restoring. If you ever change your mind about a jailbreak, just restore your iPhone or iPod touch using iTunes. Assuming you haven’t unlocked, your iPhone or touch will be identical to one shipped from a factory.
When things slow down A number of people have reported system slow-downs after jailbreaking. Unfortunately, a roughly equal number have reported the same problem without jailbreaking. If this happens to you, just restore your iPhone or touch and re-jailbreak.
OMG, OMG, OMG restore failed This isn’t that uncommon. Try restoring again once or twice. If iTunes fails to see the iPod or iPhone, google for iphuc dfu mode.

For everyone worried about malicious TIFF exploits, you might want to take a few seconds and re-read those jailbreak features listed on the AppSnapp page. See number 6? Not only does the team jailbreak your iphone, add Installer.app and fix YouTube, but they also repair patch Safari’s TIFF exploit hole. Yes, you read that right. These amazing hackers have done Apple a huge favor and fixed the very same exploit they used to jailbreak.
For those of you asking about unactivated phones, if you use the Safari access trick I posted about a few weeks ago, you will even activate your iPhone and bypass the whole “connect to iTunes” screen.
Is it possible to love these guys any more?
Thanks to Nicholas “Drudge” Penree.
Update: If you have already jailbroken your iPhone or iPod touch and want to patch Safari, head over to Installer.app and look under 1.1.1 Tweaks.
Update 2: Just a reminder that the jailbreak is due in large part to the efforts of “rezn”

One of the still outstanding “head scratchers” regarding the Apple iPhone is the continued lack of support for the A2DP Bluetooth profile. Considering the iPhone’s roots are in the iPod, a stereo music player, it is quite astounding that as we sit here already up to iPhone firmware 1.1.1, there is still no native support for A2DP. The good news is that this doesn’t mean A2DP is unavailable to iPhone users.
For those of you unfamiliar with A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), A2DP is a Bluetooth profile that allows for the wireless transmission of stereo audio from a source (i.e. a phone or computer) to an A2DP receiver (a set of Bluetooth headphones or stereo system).
Back to the good news. Though the iPhone itself does not support A2DP directly (at this time), all iPhone owners can still enjoy the convenience of A2DP headphones, earbuds, and other A2DP accessories. Through the use of an , such as the one recently released by 8Bananas, any iPhone can send audio to an A2DP receiver.
The good thing about the 8Bananas A2DP dongle, the SRS-200BD, which is “made for the iPod or iPhone” is that it connects to the iPhone’s dock connector. Simply plug and A2DP dongle into the iPhone’s dock connector, and off you go. There are a handful of other A2DP dongles out there that plug into 3.5mm headphone jacks which would work with the iPhone, but don’t offer the same level of compact convenience.

We already knew that Apple has decided to limit the number of iPhones an individual can buy in a single transaction - down from five to two - but its emerged that they’ve also decided that your cash just isn’t good enough. Several would-be iPhone owners were turned away from Apple Store cash desks when they tried to pay for their handsets in cash; after a quick call around, it was confirmed that this wasn’t just the odd anomoly but now official policy.
It’s believed that this is a further move by Apple to reduce the number of iPhones that are resold and/or unlocked, a predictable move when you consider the recent news that AT&T pays Cupertino a massive $18 per month for the duration of each iPhone’s two-year contract.

A crew of hackers (including hdm/metasploit, rezn, dinopio, drudge, kroo, pumpkin, davidc, dunham, and NerveGas) have introduced a one-touch instant jailbreak for both iPhone and iPod touch. The jailbreak opens your iPhone for full disk access and installs Installer.app so you can add pretty much any third party application you like.
To use it, open Safari and point your browser to jailbreakme.com (which we aren’t linking to so folks won’t install this by accident, but you are prompted to confirm). Once there, read the directions, scroll to the bottom, and tap Install AppSnapp. If Safari disappears and you return to the main Home screen, you’re good. Just wait a minute more for your unit to restart–don’t touch anything until you see the slide to unlock screen. If Safari hangs, just quit out (press and hold Home for 4-8 seconds) and try again.
Once you get to slide-to-unlock, go ahead and unlock your iPhone or iPod touch. You’ll return to your home screen which will contain a new Installer.app icon. If you’ll want to ssh into your unit, install the BSD subsystem, Community Sources, and then install Open SSH–you may need to upgrade Installer.app (thanks Ste). With Open SSH and sshfs (part of Mac Fuse), you can open Finder windows that offer direct drag and drop access to your phone or touch.
The jailbreak really is as easy as it sounds. I restored my iPod touch and jailbroke it just a few minutes ago and it worked great.

Today Apple added a new section to the Apple Developer Connection: the iPhone Dev Center. Now, before you get any fancy ideas that Apple is shipping an iPhone SDK a little early, this Dev Center is aimed square at making it easy to create web apps for the iPhone, and web apps only, at least for the moment.
Sample code, tips, tricks, and video from Apple’s recent iPhone Tech Talks are all gathered together to make the life of an iPhone developer a little easier.

The iPhone’s Installer.app has been updated to 3.0beta3 and features a much better organizational system. You can “Update All”, and the packaging backend is improved as well. You can’t install this directly on your phone, but instead you have to install the older version, then update via installer itself. If you have 1.1.1, you’ll have to jailbreak first, then transfer it on manually. However, it does detect what firmware version you’re running and only displays the apps that run fine on yours.
