New iPhone ads: Bet, Brilliant, and Music Store

Apple has released three new iPhone ads showing off the iTunes Store, Google maps positioning feature, and how to win a bet. These commercials are done in the regular iPhone ad style. I like the way the bet ad ends with the narrator saying, “… then you’ll have the internet and five dollars, in your pocket.”

You can see all of these ads on the iPhone TV Ads Gallery page.

Apple airs three new iPhone commercials

Apple this past weekend began airing new iPhone commercials touting the company’s popular mobile device. The “real world’ commercials feature a monologue delivered by a satisfied user about a particular iPhone feature in front of a black backdrop. Likely drawn from solicited user submissions, the simple testimonial-style commercials began airing throughout the US on Sunday afternoon and feature “life changing” stories; the commercials end with the user walking away from the backdrop — which is revealed to be on the side of a street. The backdrop showcases the familiar signature white Apple logo as well as a closing plug for the Apple’s exclusive US network partner: “Only on AT&T”. Doug touts the iPhone’s unique Visual Voice mail feature as “one of the greatest advancements in the history of mankind” in a spot dubbed “Mankind”, while Eliot talks about how easy it is to lookup information on the Web on his iPhone (ultimately allowing him to find the name of his lunch date and saving him from an awkward situation) in “Meredith”. Finally, in “One more thing,” Stephano says the iPhone replaces four different devices–his iPod, smart phone, regular phone, and camera–and is his “lifeline”.

iPhone has Microsoft Word and Excel Support

Here’s a never-before-seen section of the iPhone : the settings. Which makes sense, because what kind of lame commercial will say “wow, look at all the cool settings the iPhone has!”Here’s what else is new:

• Confirmed in-line viewer for PDFs, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel docs in email. Microsoft complained about lack of support before.w This is a huge deal, even if it is read-only.
• Turning off the phone requires you to slide your finger across the top (like unlocking it) to confirm.
• You can rewind voicemail like a sound file.
• You can finger-scroll through contacts using the alphabet on the right.
• The special iPhone headphones have volume and call control.
• IMAP/POP support confirmed
• Typing with two thumbs actually looks manageable
• Limited amount of ringtones can be selected from the settings menu. Doesn’t look like songs can be used.
• Confirmed turn by turn directions and up-to-date traffic info for Google maps.
