Got 2.2GB of storage free on your iPhone (or iPod Touch) and fancy carrying around a wealth of knowledge to impress ladies, ace the pub quiz and generally come across as a Smart-Alec? Then you’ll be wanting to follow Patrick Collinson’s instructions to put the entire English version of Wikipedia (minus extraneous links, unnecessary pictures and other rubbish) onto your cellphone and never again be subject to the whims of a languorous EDGE connection when you’re desperate for another factoid.
According to Patrick the app still has plenty of rough edges - some articles won’t work, and it’s prone to occasional crashes - but if you’ve the space and the inclination this might just be the hack for you. The German Wikipedia version is also available, and there’s a Google Group if you’re looking for support.
