The dock included with the first-generation iPhone will not fit the iPhone 3G, forcing upgraders to purchase a new dock if they wish to utilize one. According to an Apple employee, “the iPhone 3G is shaped differently and doesn’t fit in the same dock.”It is as of yet unclear whether or not the Apple Universal Dock connector will work with the iPhone 3G
