The iPod video is one sexy player, but let’s face it: that tiny display is hardly suitable for any real video playback.

The Portable iPod Video Enlarger and DVD Player solves this problem by allowing you to integrate your 5th generation iPod and watch the movie on a 8 1/2-inch 16:9 widescreen LCD screen. That’s about 2.75 times bigger than the iPod’s screen.

According to the manufacturer, due to the use of active matrix technology, the LCD can redraw images faster than typical LCD monitors, resulting in a sharper, more detailed resolution.

It features dual headphone jacks so that two people can share the video player. Perfect for sharing with a friend or spouse on a long flight or drive. It also comes with a remote control and a strap for attaching to a car headrest.

The latest version of our free multi-file video encoding is available at http://techlogg.com/rockpod.

Despite some website horrors last week, development of RockPod 08 Lite is now in full swing as new features and new device support now feature in this latest release for Linux Build 18, which follows the Windows Build 17 released yesterday.

build18-linsm.jpg

This new version also includes five filesize encoding options – 64MB, 128Mb, 256MB, 512MB and 768MB – plus a specific encoding option for Asus’ popular Eee PC. The new Eee PC option is a compromise between the slow 900MHz Celeron, decent battery life and the 800×480-pixel screen.

The new Linux build works on any Linux distro with at least GTK+ 2.0 or better, which covers virtually all of the popular distros including Ubuntu 6.06 or later, Xubuntu 6.06 and UserOS ULTRA.

Both the Windows and Linux versions are available at http://techlogg.com/rockpod.

I absolutely fell in love with Giffin’s Evolve Wireless Speaker System after reviewing it back in December. After I returned the review unit to Griffin, I missed being able to stream music stored in my iPod throughout the house—especially when I had friends over for drinks. I’ve thought about buying the iPod-friendly system since, but I’m saving up for a high-definition video camera, so I’m reluctant to pay the $300 price tag at this time.

Monster Cable has come up with a beautiful, cheaper alternative they call iSoniCast. This simple two-piece audio bridge wirelessly integrates your iPod into your home stereo system, so you can listen to tunes stored in your music player. The iSoniCast ships with a base station that connects to your home stereo equipment, and a transmitter that plugs into the bottom of your iPod and can stream music up to 30 feet. The transmitter also gives you the ability to control the music you want to play, so no extra software or remote controls are needed. The iSoniCast wireless audio bridge is available now, and retails for $99.95. I’m expecting a review unit soon, so check back for a more detailed review.

Do you own a ultra-tiny iPod Shuffle if so then I bet at some point you have lost it at least once or twice and if you haven’t you surely would have come close I know I have.

The iPod Shuffle is tiny so to stop you loosing it they have come up with an iPod Shuffle Holder.

This I think is a must have if you own the iPod Shuffle but what do you think?

A researcher at Osaka University in Japan has developed a device that allows users to control their iPod music player via eye winks.

Called the KomeKami Switch, or Temple Switch, the gadget uses infrared sensors and a microcomputer to detect differences in the movement of your skin when you wink.

The KomeKami Switch can be clipped to eyeglasses or headphones and will respond to various combinations of winks by remotely controlling play, pause, replay, and skip functions of the iPod, says its developer, Kazuhiro Taniguchi, a researcher at the university’s Graduate School of Engineering.

A few wink commands for the KomeKami Switch: close both eyes for a second to start the iPod and blink again to stop the machine; to replay a tune, wink strongly with the left eye for one second, or wink with the right eye to skip to the next song.

The people at FlyTunes.fm sent me an email asking me to review their application for the iPhone/iPod touch. This was a pretty exciting email for me to get because it means that people are visiting Public Radar, and reading our articles. I quickly went to FlyTunes and did a review on the product — just in time for our weekly Apple Tuesday special.

Setting up FlyTunes is super easy. They sent me a registration link, I clicked it and typed in my email address, password, sex and zip code. That is all there is to it. They sent me a conformational email with information on how to log into FlyTunes.

What exactly is FlyTunes you ask? Well it is a free version of satellite radio that works on your iPod touch and iPhone. This is great for people who use satellite radio, but do not want to pay the monthly fee.

I couldn’t get the actual audio to play on the iPod touch — maybe that was because of the poor internet connection. However, it seems that the FlyTunes Application is best for people who own the iPhone — as they will always have an internet connection. The iPod touch is only connected to the internet when near a wireless router.

The idea of FlyTunes.fm sounds very promising — but it is more of an iPhone application than a Ipod Touch Application. One thing that they are working on to improve iPod touch functionality is that they will eventually allow you to record radio-casts and play them back at a later time.

If you don’t have a Kensington Mouse remote but still want to groove around your place without running to your computer every four minutes (because you want to hear that Kanye song again), use your iPhone (or iPod Touch) as a remote control! All you need is WiFi, and the download Signal (the demo is free and all you need to do is this). Then, have iTunes open on your computer.

First, put one hand in the air. Wave it around like you just do not care. With the other hand, point your iPhone browser to the address the demo download gives you — after the first time you go to it, add the web app as an icon to your iPhone home screen or just bookmark it.

From Signal you can browse your entire iTunes library and it will even display the album art on your iPhone or Touch. Party on, geeks!
